Here on offer is what appears to be a Japanese Table Snuff Box, made from antimony, a soft and heavy metal that often mistaken for lead.

It has a gorgeous Chrysanthemum flower design in high relief on the lid and to all the sides.

Unlike other smaller versions of less quality that I have seen, this box was never silver plated, it has been left in its natural grey finish.

The lid fits perfectly and the hinge is in full working condition.

This is a really heavy piece and inside looks to have a gilt finish, a true sign of quality.

This is really a high-end quality Japanese piece, with the detail on the flowers being exceptional.

The Box measures 3.9” (10cm) wide, 2.6” (6.6cm) deep and 1.25” (3.3cm) high.

It weighs a heavy 280g.
