The PDI Advanced Jewelry Fixture converts your 4 axis milling machine into a jewelry making powerhouse. With our fixture your 4 axis desktop mill automatically produces intricate wax models of beautifully crafted rings, pendants, bracelets, brooches, charms, earrings and cufflinks. The fixture mounts directly to the JWX-10, MDX-40, MDX-40A, MDX-540 rotary axis unit. It can also be used directly with any milling system using a 3 or 4 jaw chuck. So you can convert a Minitech, Sherline, Techno, Haas, Fadal, Modelmaster and any other 4 axis milling machine into a jewelry milling system.

How It Works
The PDI Jewelry fixture allows you to carve wax for jewelry in a variety of ways. You can cut out pendants and simple items that need to be cut from 1 side. You can cut more complicated items that need to be cut on both sides. You can also do a standard 4 axis rotary cut around a piece of wax tube. Then you can combine the 2 methods to create a complicated ring by simply cutting both sides of the ring then moving the wax to the mandrel and cutting the full outside of the ring.

3D Design Software Compatibility
The fixture can be used with all 3D Design software, if you have a program not listed here check to see if your 3d model can be exported to .STL file format, if so then it will work. If still uncertain then contact us below in the ask an expert box.

CNC Machine Compatibility
The fixture can be used with all CNC machinery. The only concern you should have is if the 4th axis has enough clearance for the fixture to flip. If you have any questions let us know and we will make sure it will work for your machine.

Training and Support
We have created an online video that shows you how to install and calibrate the fixture on your Roland MDX-40A milling machine. We have created a tutorial video for each of the different types of cutting (2 sided pendant cut, ring tube rotary cut, and a complicated 3 sided ring cut) using the fixture on the MDX-40A and the SRP Player software. But unfortunately we are unable to offer additional free training with this purchase. This fixture is an advanced fixture and requires advanced knowledge of CNC machines. If you do not understand how to use a fixture like this with your machine or software then it is likely that you will not be able to use this fixture. If you would like to buy extra training and support for using the fixture on your machine we offer tech support and training in 4 hour blocks.
UPDATE 2016 We have posted the training videos and resources below so you can now review the training before making the purchase.

Advanced Mounting Info
If you do not want to use your 3 or 4 jaw chuck you can make a simple adapter plate to attach the fixture to the 4th axis of your choice. We include the mounting hole diagram for the fixture after you purchase. If you are an OEM we can supply the fixture with the correct mounting plate to attach to your system. Contact us for details.

Fixture install and calibration on MDX-40A
This video shows you how to calibrate the 4th axis unit on the MDX-40A then install the fixture. Once installed it shows you how to set the X,Y,Z origin points for both cutting on the frame and cutting on the tip.

MDX-40A Pendant Cut Training

MDX-40A Ring Tube Cut Training
This video shows how to create a 4 Axis ring on the MDX-40A using SRP Player and a wax tube. The JWX-30 driver below has to be installed, you will then have the fixtures available as an option in SRP Player. You need to view the Add Tool Training and add your new profile tool before doing this training. If you are using the revised fixture that allows you to mount the wax tube on the fixture, then mount it the new way, this video shows mounting the wax on the rotary axis unit. MDX-40A 3 Sided Ring Cut Training
This video shows how to create a complicated 3 sided ring using the MDX-40A, SRP Player and our new jewelry fixture. This video goes through all the steps required to cut first on the 2 sides then on the tip of the fixture. This video is over 30 minutes long. The JWX-30 driver below has to be installed, you will then have the fixtures available as an option in SRP Player. MDX-40A Support Hub - File
This is the hub you should be using when using our fixture with the Roland MDX-40A / JWX-10. You will insert this hub into your cad model before saving it out as an stl when doing the 2 sided cutting of a 3 sided ring. You will then re save your model out without the hub when you are doing the rotary cut on a 3 sided ring.

RhinoGold Set Up for SRP Player
This video shows you how to setup SRP Player to launch directly from inside of RhinoGold. When this is setup you can use the Export CAM wizard and it makes using the 2 program together much easier, it also eliminates exporting files and re importing the files.

MDX-40A SRP Player Add Jewelry Tool Training
This video shows how to add profile tools in SRP Player for jewelry cutting. You need to add these tools before doing any of the videos above that require the Profile tool. The JWX-30 driver below has to be installed, you will then create the new tools in the JWX-30 mode so they will be available for the training videos.
UPDATE ****In the video it does not tell you to change the Flute Diameter but it must also be changed. The ZEC-J3015 tool you copy has a shank diameter of 0.059" or 1.5mm but your new tool needs to have a shank diameter of 0.125" or 3.175mm***

Jewelry Tool Information Document
This is a document that has advanced information on the tools used for cutting wax when making jewelry patterns. It gives you the parameters of Roland's standard tools and gives you alternative sources for purchasing the tools.

Wax Clean Up and Removal Document
This document tells you how to get the wax out of small details after you have cut out a ring or pendant in wax. Sometimes this can be very difficult. We also list some tools you can buy like a high pressure washer and cutting oil.

You can use any type of machinable wax or jewelers carving wax with the fixture and the machine. But if you want to buy wax in pre-cut sizes that fit the fixture perfectly then we recommend www.machinablewax.com they have blocks cut to size. Click the link above or go to there website then look down the left side for jewelry wax, then select Roland. You need the wax for the Large JWX-30 fixture, it is the same size as our fixture.
