The RX-A850 supports a 5.1.2 Atmos setup. Pick up good vibrations only
Yamaha builds their AVENTAGE series receivers with custom-designed parts that use anti-resonance technology to reduce distortion caused by vibration. The RX-A850's rigid H-shaped frame provides stability to reduce chassis vibration almost completely. A specially designed fifth foot at the center of the receiver's base helps dampen internal and external vibrations, and an aluminum front panel further reduces resonance for optimal sound quality. An extra bottom cover provides additional support for improved performance. All of this attention to detail in the receiver's construction, combined with its symmetrical amp layout and low-jitter PLL circuitry, results in accurate playback, precise stereo imaging, and a wide, natural soundstage.

Add music in a second room and connect a second TV
The RX-A850's seven-channel amplifier has outputs for nine speakers. That means you can connect a full 7.1 or 7.2-channel surround sound system in your main room plus another pair of speakers in a different area of the house. If you're listening to music out on the patio while others watch a movie in the living room, Yamaha's Intelligent Amp Assign feature automatically assigns two amplifier channels to your stereo setup while still delivering five-channel surround sound in the main room. When the second zone isn't in use, the surround sound in the main room switches back to seven channels for maximum surround sound immersion.
A second HDMI output lets you watch the same video source in your main zone and a second room. Start a movie in your living room and finish it in your bedroom or kitchen. Or watch the same content on two separate screens in the same room and use Party Mode to make sure the sound from both TVs is perfectly synced. You can also use one HDMI output for your TV and the other to connect a video projector.

Each room's speakers can be controlled independently with the free MusicCast app. The app lets you control playback, browse music sources, and select which rooms you want to use.
