Diffraction Grating Slides


These Holographic Diffraction Gratings are highly efficient embossed Holographic Optical Elements (H.O.E.). The quality of the spectrum produced from these gratings is the brightest possible with the minimum of distracting visual noise. Each grating is mounted in a ridged cardboard frame allowing ease of handling and use.

The slides are available as 500 and 1000 lines/mm linear gratings, or 200 lines/mm for the double axis grating.

With these you can:

  • Project a spectrum using an white light source such as an overhead or 35mm slide projector
  • Demonstrate the adding and subtracting of colours using coloured film gels (not included)
  • Show the effect of varying light frequency (colour) on the diffraction angle (Bragg's Law)
  • Measure the wavelength of light (or you could get the experimental kit: "Measuring the Wavelength of Light with a Tape Measure" by clicking on the Auctiva bar above)

Please note that the 2D diffraction grating is marked as 13500 lines/inch (which suggested around 500 lines/mm). However this has been measured as actually 200 lines/mm (Thanks to David of microscopy-uk ) and confirmed by the manufacturers "Rainbow Symphony".
