Saint Anthony of Padua & St. Francis Xavier

The authenticate is dated August 6, 1851, and says ex ..... S. Antonii Patav. Conf. et S. Francisci Xavierii Conf Soc Jesu for Saint Anthony of Padua and Lisbon, and Saint Francis Xavier.

This reliquary was issued and sealed with the red wax seal bearing the Coat of Arms of  Cardinal Patrizi, Vicar General Roman Curea - Vatican -  and dates from circa 1860, and the papacy of Pope Pius XI.  Cardinal Patrizi was THE most powerful man, (besides the Pope himself) for almost 20 years during two papacies.

At the Top of the certificate is the PAPAL COAT OF ARMS of POPE PIUS IX.  In the Vatican, the Pope does not issue relics, but by the Arch Priest of St. John Lateran,  Cardinal Patrizi's seal, as Vicar General, Dean of the College of Cardinals is located on the left bottom; a perfect match for the red wax seal found on the relic.

It measures 1 1/2" x 1 5/8".  The red silk threads are perfect and in place behind the red wax seal of Cardinal Patrizi, ensuring the authenticity of this relic.  It has a protective cover on the back.

The document measures 17" x 11",

The red silk threads, all of which are intact and in place, ensure the authenticity of the relic.

Suitable for public (Church) and private veneration.

This relic, along with the others I am listing this week, are from the estate of a French archbishop.  He was well-known for his huge private relic and reliquary collection. His name, photo, coat of arms, (contain a reliquary) and biography will be given to the relic's new custodian.
