For Sale:  A quite beautiful Vibroplex Lightning Bug from 1936.  This black lacquered base key was "Japanned" during the Art Deco period of New York.  Made at the Fulton Street, Brooklyn, location, it is serial number 109422.  The key comes with its tan covered (inside) carry case and appears to have had very little if any use.  As mentioned in the above condition statement, yes it has a ding her or there but very few.  I have seen very very few keys decorated like this and in this condition.  The key model is not rare but the condition is.  The chrome work could stand some careful polishing but you could also just leave it as it is.

The original case included here is easily worth US $125 leaving the key at a very attractive value.

Condition:  Used but pristine Vibroplex Lightning Bug from the mid 1930's.  For a key this old the black laquer paint is in remarkable condition.  The "Japanning" is almost untouched.  We do not think this key was ever used much if at all.  It does not show signs of use and being from 1936-37, it was purchased just before WW2 began.  In all likelihood its owner went to war leaving this beautiful bug home, safe in its own Vibroplex case.  Yes, there is a ding here or there such as the one mid center on the rear edge.  We think that may be something of a casting defect as it is more of a "pit" than a ding but we are just guessing.  This key is not perfect but it is absolutely beautiful.  Now & then I tell myself if I could only have one bug, I would be hard pressed not to choose this one.  YMMV but we think the key is precious.  Please study the photos and feel free to ask any questions.

Terms:  The key here at auction is auctioned as a desirable collectible and will be well packed.  It is offered strictly AS IS and it is not returnable.  Please contact me NOW if you have any questions.
