Description:  A white bisque porcelain circular plaque designed by the great Danish Neoclassical artist Bertel Thorvaldsen and produced continuously by the Royal Copenhagen porcelain works since 1843.

This is an unusual design from the series of reliefs Thorvaldsen designed for Copenhagen. It shows the Visitation, with Mary and the infant Jesus being visited by the young St john the Baptist.

This example dates to the late 19th century.

Size:  5.375" in diameter, 0.375" thick.

Mark:  Impressed "Erenet" mark on back, hand-painted three wave mark in cobalt blue.

Condition:  Some soiling to edge.  plaque itself is slightly warped from firing. Otherwise fine.
