Up for sale, a 2008 Fender American Standard Telecaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A modern iteration of one of the most iconic, reliable, and gigworthy guitars ever created, the American Standard Tele is a no-nonsense machine that is equal parts soulful companion and elegant tool. Whether it's biting bridge pickup twang or thicker, warm neck pickup girth, the American Standard can deliver the goods with a solid alder body and maple neck. At 8lbs 2oz, this Tele balances well on a strap and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and solid intonation.
The maple neck has a smooth gloss finish and C shaped profile that borders on the more slender side of things. It's a very fast feeling neck, with shoulders that gain some girth and roundness in the higher registers of the fretboard for a nice handful when you're playing leads up the neck. The stock medium jumbo fretwire shows moderate wear beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-3, with lighter flattening of the crowns until roughly fret 5 under the plain strings, and no notable wear up the neck. The truss rod is responsive, and the guitar plays cleanly in all registers with no buzzing or dead spots. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the fretboard radius adheres to modern Fender spec at 9 1/2". On the headstock the Schaller-made chrome tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
The electronics are stock, with the traditional Tele three-way switch and Master Volume/Master Tone control layout for a familiar and intuitive playing experience. The chrome plated bridge base features six Strat-style saddles that are properly intonated and radiused. In terms of cosmetic wear, there is one decent scuff and a few pin head sized finish chips on the back treble side lower bout edge as seen in the included closeup photo, as well as some light marks in the pick path and a few dimples and small finish scratches on the back of the instrument as well. Structurally, the guitar is in great shape, and this lightly worn in American Standard has a great feel, prominent acoustic voice, and professional setup.
