Description - A solid sterling silver cigar/cigarette box by A & J Zimmerman Ltd
Dated for 1897 and assay for Birmingham.
An outstanding and very high quality cigar/cigarette box.
The cigar/cigarette box is beautifully embossed with floral, scrolls and birds to the lid and sides.
Comes with an unusual solid sterling silver lid no wooden lining.
The cartouche to the centre off the lid is engraved with a crest mark.
It comes with a hinged lid and comes with the original cedar wood lining.
Comes with a protruding lip for opening at the front.
Comes from the Queen Victorian era and is 120 years old.
This is a great collectors piece and definitely one not to be missed.
Weight 1008g including wooden lining.
The exterior of the box is in very good condition.
There are no dents, dings, holes, knocks, splits or repairs.
May off had new material to the underneath but looks superb.
The lid opens as it should and closes tightly shut.
The interior of the box is very good with light wear.
There are no holes, damage or repairs to the silver lid.
The wooden lining does have some wear to one corner which is shown in picture 6 and does have a small split to the wooden base.
The interior comes with both wooden dividers and the hallmarks to the body and lid are clear and visible.
Overall a splendid and rare box ready to be used or displayed.
The measurements are length 23 cm, width 14.7 and height 5.7 cm.
Any strange marks in the pictures are reflections not damage.
