Very rare to find in this size.

Presidential travel china plate by Syracuse, designed in a modified version of the classic Wilson pattern originated by Lenox in 1918. A tasteful and timeless design, it was reordered in the White House by Harding, Coolidge and Hoover. Travel chop plate  of ivory china features an alternating star and 3-bar design on the rim and a gilt presidential eagle at 12 o'clock. Eagle differs from the Lenox version with a solid gilt emblem over its head containing 13 embossed stars representing the 13 original colonies. Plate bears the ''Old Ivory / Syracuse China / OPCO / Made in America'' stamp to verso; style of stamp dates from 1927-1960. Syracuse was the industry leader in china for train dining cars, restaurants, hotels and other industrial institutions. Plate was likely used in the dining/conference room on the Ferdinand Magellan, the presidential rail car custom rebuilt in 1942 by the Pullman Company for use by Franklin D. Roosevelt and subsequent presidents through Dwight D. Eisenhower. Plate measures approx 12 3/8'' in diameter. The face has minimal utensil marks.
