Georgian Gold Sardonyx Intaglio Seal Signet Ring c1820

A fine Georgian Gold Signet Ring dating to c1820 that is set with a Sardonyx Intaglio Seal engraved with the letter 'R' and, which comes complete in it's original Shield Shaped Leather Covered Ring Box (please see the detailed close-up
photographs provided, which form an integral part of the item's description).
This wonderful Antique Ring weighs 4.3 grams and typical of the period it is unmarked, but it is guaranteed to be made from solid Gold (tests as at least 9ct); the Ring has not been cleaned as it has developed a rich patina & the colour of the antique Gold is beautiful with a warmth & richness that simply cannot be found today.
The ring is presented in it's original Antique Shield Shaped Leather Covered Ring Box, which has a cream velvet interior with a satin lining inside the lid. It is in good condition overall with it's original hinge and hook & eye catch, which are both in excellent working order. The exterior of the Box shows wear consistent with age & use i.e. there are scuffs & areas where the colour has faded due to having been handled over the years. However, this remains a rare & collectable box in it's own right and it is wonderful to find a Ring like this accompanied by it's box.
Overall this fine quality Antique Intaglio Seal Ring is in great condition with wear, as shown, commensurate with age; when viewed under a loupe there are surface scratches to the Intaglio & a some tiny flea bites to the edge, but nothing for a ring of this age & more mentioning for descriptive completeness.
The ring is sized at UK Ring Size 'K 1/2', which equates to a US Ring Size '5 1/2'; as with almost all antique rings the band is slightly ovalized i.e
it is not perfectly round and it measures slightly differently on the gauge
depending on how it is positioned, however this will not affect the ring when
worn.
In summary, this is a Georgian Gold Signet Ring dating to c1820 that is set with a Sardonyx Intaglio Seal engraved with the letter 'R' and, which comes complete in it's original Shield Shaped Leather Covered Ring Box - it is quite simply sublime.
