This is a rare clock. Pal Benko was a grandmaster and champion of Hungary; he fled his homeland after the 1956 Soviet invasion. In spite of being stateless, he played in the 1959 World Championship Candidates' Tournament, but did not advance to challenge the world champion. In 1962, now a resident of the United States, played in the 1962 Candidates' Tournament, and again did not advance to the Championship match. He never won the U.S. Championship, though he played in it many times. He is a rare "double grandmaster," both over-the-board and for problem composition. Allan Troy and Pal Benko were longtime friends.  This clock is sold "as is," without any warranty.  I, Ed Yetman,  have been a U.S. Chess Federation tournament director for 37 years, and I can certify that this clock is legal for tournament play.
