CIRCA 1820, a elegant and refined ladies Empire diaphanous silk gown with embellished puffed sleeves.The luminous cream silk has a allover tiny diamond shaped floret design and at the bottom of the silk there is a 8”-8 1/2" wide floral bouquet inisde a large palm leaf shaped design .The design at the top of the gown has simple cream pin tucked design with a outline braiding.The ruffled top part of the sleeves also has the braiding and hand covered silk buttons for decoration.There are longer sleeves underneath the embellished puffed sleeves .The gown measures apprx. 52-53" long,apprx.16” across chest, apprx.29" around Empire seam.The armhole measures apprx 6 1/2” across…and 20” for length of sleeve.The gown is in very good strong condition. There is a lining underneath the top part of gown. There is one very small wear area in one of the palm floral border at the bottom, apprx 1/2” this is where the larger florals are and there are some other small scattered openings ,mainly at bottom of the gown, a few marks ,again mainly near bottom. Overall.. this gown I consider in very good strong condition… silk is sound and when the gown is displayed one does not notice the small openings. Buyer may view and return if they do not agree with my assessment.. the gown needs then to be viewed and resent immediately with included tissue and wrapping. We base our opinion on the gowns we have seen and sold over 40 years. many of the gowns from this era have serious flaws as the muslin and silks were so diaphanous.There is a inner silk lining on the bottom of the gown, apprx.2” that has some age spots, a few on inner bodice.. these linings were meant to add structure and form to the silk fabric.In all a beautiful gown for the early costume collector.

We reserve the right to ship international packages with a tracking number for items over $100.00. We cannot be held accountable for import duties, taxes or any other charges. Contact your local Post Office or the Customs Office for specific duty and tax amounts. Please be aware that at times there may be delays due solely to the Post Office.
We gladly combine shipments, please make contact if you intend to bid on multiple items. I usually ship once a week due to extensive work travel and at times there may be a slight delay in shipment of the week's packages. Returns are accepted in the event of a major error in the item's description. Customers must contact me immediately upon notice of an error and the item must be returned within 5 days.
