Genuine Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Gemstone Beads, hand cut, hand faceted and hand drilled at our suppliers in India. These semi-precious gemstones have been treated to give a more uniform colour which is normal practice with this quality of gemstones. The beads are approx 3-4mm and almost round. Each strand contains around 35-40 carats of gemstones.
As with all semi-precious gemstones which are hand cut, they will vary in size and colour and are of Commercial Grade quality (inclusions visible to the naked eye) and supplied in 13" lines as received from supplier.
We can supply non-treated gemstones but as these are of a much higher grade and price, they are only available to order. Should you require these then please message me and I will get actual photographs of the item from the supplier with current price.
Sapphire is a gemstone variety of the mineral Corundum, an aluminium oxide (α-Al2O3). Trace amounts of other elements such as iron, titanium, chromium, copper or magnesium can give corundum blue, yellow, pink, purple, orange or greenish colour. Chromium impurities in corundum yield a red tint and the resultant gemstone is called a Ruby. Corundum has a graded hardness of 9 on the Mohs Scale.
Emerald is a gemstone and a variety of the mineral Beryl (Be3Al2(SiO3)6) coloured green by trace amounts of chromium and sometimes vanadium. Beryl has a graded hardness of 7.5–8 on the Mohs Scale.
