0344 Antique Blue Glass Jug
Blue Cherry Antiques

Description

A 19th century blue soda glass jug.  It is of traditional form with an almost sparrow beak lip and an applied handle.  It is of quite sturdy construction and there is a wafer style pontil scar to the base along with the soda glass suggesting a continental origin rather than English.  The material has many air bubbles trapped inside, so many that it is probably an intended feature, something seen in Italian glass during the late 19th century.

Condition

Good for period, lots of air bubbles, but this is intentional.  Also has some mineral inclusions.  Wear to the base.
