Our latest Barebones Carputer is based off of the new Intel Atom D510 platform. The PC is packed full of the latest hardware including our new redesigned Black Box Mobile Mini ITX Chassis, Intel motherboard, 2 watt Embedded dual core 1.66GHz Atom D510 CPU, M2-ATX Smart automotive grade PSU with automatic start up an shutdown, and 2Gb of DDR2 800MHz RAM. The PC includes a detailed build sheet, motherboard drivers, comes comes fully assembled and pre-tested. 

We may not have the cheapest Carputer but what we do have is the best one. Here are 8 reasons why:

2. All of the connections are on a single side to maximize mounting options and space

3. We are the only company offering the ability to upgrade your case from the standard Black Box Mobile to either the Black Box PCI (supports a single PCI card) or Black Box Duo (supports Dual Hard Drives). The ability to add a standard PCI card allows you to add additional devices to your Carputer like another sound card or dual output graphics card. The ability to support dual hard drives allows you to keep all of your critical system files on a small low cost solid state hard drive and all of your media on a low cost high capacity notebook hard drive. Solid State hard drives boot faster and are more reliable then standard notebook drives in an automotive environment.

4. We have the only Car PC that uses a metal locking power harness. All of the other cases on the market for automotive use use cheaper inferior plastic power harnesses.

5. All of our PC's have a 5v output to power USB hubs or other high power USB devices such as an external DVD drive. 

6. All of our Carputers have a regulated 12v/3A output to power standalone touch screen monitors (or other devices 12v devices). We also include a 5m/16.25' power cable to connect to your monitor. The standard 2.5/5mm barrel plug will fit all standalone Lilliput/Xenarc monitors and most other monitors.

7. Our RCA jacks are located as far away from the PSU as possible to maximize the sound quality and minimize interference. Other cases, like the Voom 2, have the RCA jacks located directly next to the PSU. Doing this creates to much electrical interference making the RCA jacks unusable.

Every computer now comes with an M2-ATX power supply adapter that will allow you, with an AC to DC power adapter, to power the PC in your house to load software, add content, and adjust various settings prior to installing the PC in your car.  The unique design also allows you to simulate turning the car on or off to test your shutdown and restart settings.
