Ford Capri 2.8i

Race Car

We bought this in October last year in order to race in Classic Touring Cars with my father, but we are so busy at work, I'm affraid it just won't happen. We really do not want to sell it, as my first race car was a Capri, and I regretted selling it and vowed I would get another one. Unfortunately this just sits in the corner at work, and makes me upset everytime I walk past it just sitting there.

Originally converted for the Slick 50 Championship in 1993, and then converted further over time, and now is elegible for many series including Pre'83 touring cars, plus many more.  The shell can only be described as in very good condition, and we do have more photos available on request. This is NOT your usual rust bucket full of body filler. A very straight and original car. Although removed, the original Recaro interior is still present, and only one front seat.

The engine has been basically blue printed, with Power Engineering big valve heads. Lightened, balanced and slightly overbored, with high compression pistons, polished big valve heads and high lift cam. The current output is estimated around 190bhp, but in truth we feel it is more with what has been done. The exhaust is a four into one type, sounds lovely as it should do. It has the original 4 speed gearbox, with a 4:1 CWP. This is fine for short circuits, but a smaller CWP would be better for longer circuits. It has adjustable Spax all round, polybushed, braided brake lines and race spec Ferodo pads. 500lbs front spring, and is currently on Toyo 600 F3 tyres which had been used for one meeting.

It has a 6 point Rollcentre roll cage, plumbed in extinguisher, along with the mandatory cut out switch, seat and harness.

There is a very LARGE spares package incl:

The V5 is present, but obviously she is not taxed or MOT'd, so collection will be on a trailer. She is a race car, so we highly recomend viewing before purchasing to avoid any confusion upon collection. It has always been in dry storage, starts and drives ok, as we have driven it up and down our industrial estate. We recommend a check and service before using in competition.

We are a professional race car preparation business, so please no time wasters and silly offers as we are well aware of what it is worth. Genuine enquiries are of course welcome and viewing by appointment.
