A full page engraving showing :-
A grim and dark view of the forest of chimney stacks belching out coal smoke in the Industrial heartland of the west midlands around Wolverhampton as the title suggests. It is easy to see how during the industrial revolution and afterwards, this area became known as simply ‘The Black Country’ This picture by William Palmer has been used many times in TV programmes to illustrate the dark and almost satanic effect the industry of the area had on the landscape. One of my favourites There is unrelated text on the reverse, and there are a few marks and evidence of handling
The page measures overall approximately 400 x 275 mm (16 x 10.75 "). There is some age yellowing - please check the larger picture for condition.
Anything more than minor will be mentioned in the main body of the description. Being from a publication there is text on the reverse, which unless mentioned, will be unrelated to the image
