APPLE LISA 1 COMPUTER SYSTEM & ProFile 5mb HD
                                                  RESTORED & WORKING

This Lisa turns on and passes all hardware tests. It boots up to Office System 1.0 (installed on the 5 MB ProFile hard drive).
All plastic panels have been carefully removed and fully cleaned. They all have matching tone with only slight yellowing of the
plastics due to age and time. There are absolutely no cracks, chips, or any other defects noticed the plastics.
There are no
noticeable scratches, dents, or dirt present. All panels were removed and carefully cleaned.
The 5mb ProFile drive has a little
more yellowing of its plastics than the Lisa & the keyboard. there are a couple of minor scratches. No cracks or chips.
It operates
quietly and reliably. The mouse is in near-mint condition with little yellowing of the plastics, and flawless operation. This computer
represents countless hours of cleaning, troubleshooting, and research. A true museum piece!

The Lisa's CRT screen is bright and crisp with little burn-in. Lisa front face plate / bezel includes a near-mint condition
anti-glare filter (installed).
Twiggy disk drives are notoriously problematic, this is why Apple recalled them after only 6 months of
being on the market. The upper Twiggy disk drive does not read my disks. The lower Twiggy disk drive is in working order, but
has intermittent issues reading and writing. This Lisa is otherwise in fully operational condition and has been thuroughly Tested.
The Lisa boots up into Lisa OS 1.0 from the 5mb ProFile hard drive, so the floppy Drives are not necessary to operate the Lisa.

The keyboard has had all of its foam pads (one under each key) carefully replaced. This process takes about 9 hours to complete.
All Lisa keyboards are suffering from this foam rot at this point. A symptom of this is keys that stop working when pressed.
This keyboard will now last for many years to come! R41 & R47 resistors have never been removed from the I/O board.

SOME HISTORY OF THE APPLE LISA COMPUTER:
The Apple Lisa was Steve Jobs' vision of the computer of the future. The development of the Apple Lisa spanned 4 years, 1979-1983.
Steve Jobs had apparently named the Apple Lisa computer after his own daughter who was born in 1978, Lisa Brennan-Jobs. If you
look closely at the Lisa's all-in-one design, you will see many similarities when compared to later Macintosh and iMac computer designs.

The Lisa is, in essence, the personal computer that revolutionized how we use computers today - with pull-down menus, and click-on icons.
The extensive research and development that Steve Jobs and Apple invested into this computer in the early 1980's is why Apple was always
light years ahead of anyone else with this form of technology today. It is quite remarkable how they were able to maintain this edge over the
last 30 years, putting ease of use and simplicity first in their product designs.

The Apple Lisa computer cost Apple so much money, time, and recourses, that it apparently put Apple into some financial difficulty.
Steve, wanting to improve and prefect the Lisa more and more, was getting pressured to release the product by Apple's shareholders.
This caused then CEO John Sculley to force Steve from the Lisa project in 1982. The Lisa 1 was released shortly thereafter in January 1983.

Steve then went on to start up the Macintosh team in retaliation, where the first "Mac" was developed and produced. It was based on a scaled-down
version of the Lisa computer, and was released alongside the revised "Lisa 2" computer in January 1984. The original Macintosh computer was
supposed to have a 5.25" Twiggy disk drive just like the Lisa 1 computer, but due to the Twiggy drives not being reliable, the Lisa 2 and Macintosh
shipped with a newer 3.25" 400k micro diskette drive. All Lisa 1 Twiggy drives and face plates were recalled.

THE LISA 1 COMPUTER IS SO RARE BECAUSE:
* Announced in January 1983, It did not ship until July 1983. It was discontinued in January 1984, 6 months later.
* Its original cost in 1983 was $10,000 US (approx. $23,031 US in 2012 dollars) making it a tough sell to customers.
* Apple offered all Lisa 1 owners a FREE upgrade to a Lisa 2, with a 400k Sony 3.5" disk drive, in 1984. Almost everybody went for this upgrade.
* Apple recalled all Lisa 1 specific parts (Face plate & Twiggy disk drives) back from its authorized service centers and had them destroyed/disposed of.

* There are only about 30 known surviving examples of the Apple Lisa 1 computer today.
* The Apple Lisa was a landmark in computing history, being the first personal computer available with a mouse & GUI (Graphical User Interface).
* The release of the Lisa 1 computer in January 1983 actually pre-dates the Macintosh by 1 year, and Microsoft Windows 1.0 by almost 3 years!

The Apple Lisa was the programming platform for the first Macintosh or Mac, as they both used a Motorola 68000 CPU.
The Lisa has 1mb RAM and a 5MB Hard Drive vs. 128k of RAM in the Macintosh.
Mac OS 1.0 and most of the early Mac 128k programs were actually written with a Lisa.
Apple offered Basic Plus, Pascal, and Cobol as programming environments for the Lisa.

THIS WOULD MAKE AN EXCELLENT ADDITION TO YOUR VINTAGE
             COMPUTER MUSEUM OR PERSONAL COLLECTION!
