APOLLO 1
EDWARD WHITE II
(1930-1967) He was an engineer, United States Air Force
officer and NASA astronaut. On June 3, 1965, he became the
first American to "walk" in space. White died along with fellow
astronauts Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee during a pre-launch
test for the first manned Apollo mission at Cape Kennedy. He was
awarded the NASA Distinguished Service Medal for his Gemini 4 spaceflight
and was posthumously awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
His autograph is quite rare, especially in authentically signed photos.
This 8 x 10 image of historic walk in space is inscribed, signed and
dated "3 June '65" in black ink. A stamp appears at upper right
"NASA S-65-30428". There is some mild age toning and edge wear,
otherwise in very good condition and a must for any space collector!
