WEISS Vintage BROOCH
EMERALD SAPPHIRE & AQUA CRYSTAL RHINESTONES
I am please to present for auction this beautiful and delicate
vintage cut crystal brooch made by Weiss of New York.
Albert Weiss established his costume jewellery company on New York City’s Fifth Avenue in 1942. He created some of the most beautiful rhinestone jewellery pieces in the post war years. His pieces were made with Austrian rhinestones of the best quality and clarity. Weiss favoured traditional styles such as this floral creation, paying great attention to detail. The Weiss company closed in 1971, making his jewellery difficult to find and very collectible.
This Floral inspired Brooch is a beautiful example of Weiss creations. The Austrian rhinestones are a lovely combination of facet cut teardrop, marquis, and round shapes in shades of blue sapphire, aqua, mauve and emerald green. The stones are layered which gives it a 3D appearance. It has a japanned prong setting and is signed on the back with “WEISS” in block letters which was the tag used prior to 1951. The pin backing has a safety lock.
It measures 2-1/4” wide by 2” high.
This piece is 60+ years old and in excellent condition (just a slight bend to the pin closure). Great sparkle. No missing or loose stones.
A fabulous piece to wear or add to a collection.
