History

Shelby American was founded by Carroll Shelby in 1962 to build and market high performance parts and modified cars for individuals. Some of the automobiles produced by Shelby American were the Ford Mustang-based Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT500. Shelby American also installed the engines of US-market examples of the legendary AC Cobra which was an AC Ace with a Ford V8.

Superformance LLC (Superformance Replicars) is a small American automobile company that builds, designs, and imports sports cars and replicars. The company was founded as "Superformance International Inc." by Hi-Tech Automotive Ltd. in 1996. Today, Superformance has 15 authorized dealers in the United States and 6 international dealers. SPF cars are sold as "turnkey-minus replicars" in the United States to bypass complex emissions and safety regulations. All Superformance cars are originally built at Hi-Tech Automotive's 270,000-square-foot plant in Port Elizabeth, South Africa before they are disassembled for shipping.
