The Story Behind Strip Tease

Unwanted hair has always been a problem to my sisters and me.  We fall under the category of “bushy”  individuals! =)  We have tried different methods of hair removal like shaving and tweezing… until we were introduced to waxing by a friend who owns a beauty parlor.  Waxing sessions in a salon are quite expensive though, not to mention the hassle of going and waiting just to have it done.  So we opted to just buy the ready-made wax available in the department stores which, to our dismay, didn’t work as well.   Some have to be heated, some have strong smell of  chemicals that are harmful to the skin and others just didn’t work at all.  The motivation for me to make my own came after that.  I started to do some research…  and in 2006, I went to my sister in Canada and luckily, I found a friend who taught me the sugar wax  recipe.  I got so interested because the ingredients are all natural.   It didn’t come easy though as i found out that the consistency of the wax is very different in the cool weather of Canada from the hot and humid climate back here in Manila.  After months of trials, errors and plenty of frustrations, I finally came up with the perfect consistency — my  very own concoction of the sugar wax hair remover.   I am proud to say that this product is very safe and well tested… my own body was the very first testing ground;  then my sisters, nieces and my own daughters.  The product was initially made for personal use; but it was so good we wanted to share it with friends,  so we started giving it out as gifts.   They too loved the product and started ordering for their own relatives and friends.   This was how the business side of it began …  STRIP TEASE Cold Sugar Wax was born.

Then my niece needed a unique product for her project study in school.  She immediately knew what product to present.. but of course, Strip Tease cold sugar wax!  Unfortunately, the brand name “Strip Tease” didn’t pass her teacher’s conservative standpoint… it has a “double meaning”, according to her… (Trivia: In 1996 there was an erotic comedy film starring Demi Moore with the title Striptease)… and so my niece came out with a different brand name.  As part of the school’s curriculum my cold sugar wax was exhibited in Robinson’s Galleria’s young entrepreneur’s bazaars and was featured on tv shows and newspapers and received outstanding product feedbacks under my niece’s brand name. For the longest time, I stayed quietly in the background doing the most taxing job – manufacturing the sugar wax, and entrusted my niece to do most of the marketing and selling of my product. But during the latter part of 2009, i found out that my niece started to make her own. Moral of the story? Hard for me to say. Just entrust everything to the Lord and He will take care of the rest.

Created in 2006, I’m so happy that until now, even after a lot of other similar products came out, my product — STRIP TEASE cold sugar wax, i’m proud to say, was  the FIRST Filipino-made cold sugar wax introduced in the market and remains unequalled in terms of quality and consistency.

Why the name STRIP TEASE?  Actually, we have considered a number of other name but Strip Tease stood out because, first,  cloth STRIPs will be playing a big part in the hair removal process and second, the word TEASE, without a doubt, harmonizes with the hush-hush of hair removal.
