Original c.1849-1851 sixth-plate (1/6) daguerreotype of three young VMI cadets. Their buttons, and the boy
in the middle's ring have been hand-colored gold.  They are wearing Virginia Military Institute uniforms,
with their flat buttons.

Image was purchased in Virginia, and is guaranteed to be a daguerreotype. A wonderful, important image!

 In a half-case that is 3.75" x 3.25".

I have provided a scan and a camera photo. If you have any questions, please ask before making an offer.

Condition Notes
Paper seals are no longer intact, though most remain  attached to image, as shown. Tarnish ring, and very
light haze around the mat's edge. No dings or significant damage  to the plate, but I did spot some very light
and small scratches and/or swipes around the middle of the image. These are shallow, silver in color, and
do not detract from the image. I couldn't really get them to show up on the scan or my camera shot, and in
person they are hard to see from most angles. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.
