In the intake system of diesel engines, VDO's ACVs (with or without integrated control electronics) use an electric motor to restrict the intake air so that a precisely controlled exhaust gas recirculation system is possible (stricter exhaust standards) and to remedy the annoying shake that occurs when shutting down diesel engines.
