This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE RELIGIOUS PENDANT that was made in the ART NOUVEAU style around 1910. It is HANDMADE from 18K YELLOW GOLD and SIGNED WÜST. The pendant displays a relief of the CROWNED VIRGIN MOTHER MARY WITH CHILD and is FINELY DETAILS with COBALT BLUE PLIQUE-A-JOUR ENAMEL. Plique-à-jour (French for "letting in daylight") is a vitreous enameling technique where the enamel is applied in cells and has no backing so light can shine through the translucent enamel. It is like a miniature version of stained glass as seen in churches and it is very technically challenging and time consuming with high failure rate.
The pendant's frame is set with the 29 NATURAL BLUE SAPPHIRES that weigh approx. 1.0 carat. These sapphires are SQUARE FACETED ANTIQUE CUTS that are CHANNEL-SET. The pendant is also set with 17 ROSE CUT DIAMONDS that weigh approx. .09 ctw. The diamond settings are made from PLATINUM. The back of the pendant is engraved with two stylized initials that I can not make out. The pendant measures 1-1/2” long, including the bale, by 7/8” at the widest point.
