The tracER 2 from Electro-Resales is a simple but powerful component tester that when used with a 2 channel scope, or single trace scope with horizontal input, will let you test components and characterize them.
Identify silicon rectifiers from Zener diodes, determine leads of transistors, test capacitors and identify transformer winding. Test resistors for shorts and potentiometers for dead spots.The tracER can even be used to get a rough measure of resistance. Additionally, motor winding and cable runs can be checked for shorts.
Extremely easy to use, but very powerful. Supplied with an AC power adapter that plugs into the tracER, red/black jacks allow components to be attached directly or use banana plugs and test leads to extend the tracER to your circuit board.
Set your scope in X-Y mode,hookup the tracER, plug in the supply and start testing, finally a way to determine just what those junk box or unmarked items are, or use the tracER to trouble shoot your circuit boards.
Please note: This unit requires the oscilloscope to be capable of being set in XY mode, please make sure your scope can do this.
Supplied complete with set up instructions and example curves.
