Here we have an early Vietnam War U.S. Army Special Forces Medical Captain’s 2-pocket utility shirt in good condition. It is constructed of green cotton material and is will all original colored insignia. The left collar has a yellow medical caduceus insignia and the right is with a set of Captain’s bars embroidered in white cotton thread. Sewn above the left breast pocket is a black cotton tape with, “U.S. ARMY” embroidered in gold thread. Above this is a white cotton thread set of paratrooper jump wings. Sewn to the left shoulder is a Special Forces patch with an ‘AIRBORNE” arc above. Above the right breast pocket is an early white muslin name tape with the name,” WEISS” embroidered in black thread. The edges of the cuffs are frayed and there are scattered, light black paint specks to the lower right front and sleeve as can be seen in the photos. Despite these minor defects, this jacket is still one that was worn by a Special Forces medical surgeon who most likely was responsible for saving the lives of many a wounded soldier. These doctors are the unsung heroes of the war … but will forever be remembered by those who needed their medical skill and devotion in their time of pain and suffering.
