Hello. Up for your consideration this week is a nice Leica Ia (Leica I Model A) camera complete with a Leitz Elmar 50mm f/3.5 lens. Camera Serial # 41359. The housing of this particular camera exhibits moderate to heavy signs of use that includes some blemishing, scratching, brassing, and loss of finish consistent with its age on the majority of surfaces. Suffice it to say, time and use have created a beautiful patina that the mint examples of this camera lack!  As is often the case, the shutter release collar is missing from this camera but it’s absence does not hinder functionality, of course. There is a small chip in the vulcanite adjacent to the guide post of the baseplate on the right hand side. The shutter times well on all of the settings and the film advance is smooth. The frame counter advances appropriately. The view through the finder is clean and useable, however, a penlight reveals some light hazing. The fixed Elmar 50mm f/3.5 lens erects and collapses with ease. The infinity lock functions as it should and the focus is smooth. The aperture selection lever functions smoothly and appropriately. The aperture blades exhibit some oil contamination that does not hinder functionality. The optical glass is clean and free from fungi, separation, coating flaws, blemishing, and scratching. A penlight reveals some light internal hazing, a few scantly visible cleaning marks, and some speckles of internal dust. None of these defects are significant enough to have any impact upon the rendered image quality should one choose to use the camera. Please read, re-read, and fully understand what you are bidding on prior to placing your bid.
