Description - Offered for sale an outstanding original oil painting by the listed Canadian artist Frederick Simpson Coburn. The artist was born near Montreal, Quebec and studied in Montreal, New York and Berlin at the Royal Academy. The artist is famous for his winter scenes with horses pulling logs from the forest under a bright winter sky. The artist was elected to the Royal Canadian Academy in 1928. Offered today a very fine post impressionism plein air painting depicting a cow with her calf. The artist has the cows looking to his right with a stream and meadows in the background. The painting measures 7" high by 10" wide and the brand new gallery style gold frame with canvas liner and gold fillet measures 13" by 16". The artist has signed "F.S. Coburn" front lower right and there is the remnant of an old label verso. I gave the painting a light clean and it is now in very good condition with no issues. The photos vary due to the varnish over the painting which causes a reflection. This rare early painting from one of Canada's master artists is ready to hang up and enjoy.
