Original East German Reisepass Passport. Soft cover version. Nice stamps inside. 

100% original DDR issued passports. These are a fascinating insight into the former communist East German state. Prior to 1990 very few people  were able to get a passport and merely applying for one could mark you for surveillance by the dreaded Stasi! The exception to this rule was they actively encouraged elderly people to apply for one in the hope that when they made it to the west they would stay there and no longer be a "burden" on the East German state and this is why they often have long or open ended visas. 

Of course many people had family in the east so most did return east. The interesting thing about this is because they could travel so freely, the elderly often brought back items from the west that were unavailable in the east. 

These document are a real piece of history and also a great investment, as in the past 10 years the prices of these have risen dramatically and are continuing to do so. You will see that our buy it now prices are below what these normally sell on auctions and as we are in the UK our items are sent through Royal Mail working out considerably cheaper than buying abroad.
