Description

Tony Evans signed and numbered studio vase

(See Below for Tony Evans history)

A Hand Crafted Porcelain Masterpiece, sculptural form with a very strong presence, The photo's don't do this piece justice.

Its an incredible piece, the surface texture

Has both the look and feel crocodile skin, It’s quite a masculine piece, rare for Tony Evans.

The surface texture and patterning is totally unique, any potter will tell you they don’t know what any piece will really look like until the firing process is completed.

The colors are incredible, muted brown tones with intricate patterning, It really has to be seen to be believed..!

It’s a very uniform piece considering the size and unusual surface texturing.

creating surface patterning / texturing of this kind is incredibly specialized and Is not achieved by pressing or molding the textured onto the surface of the piece. This is a complex effect to achieve, it’s a result of many variables of the firing process and the skill and experience of Tony Evans ( See below ) There are normally good areas and bad areas with this kind of technique, this is stunning all over as you can see.

The Shape and form of this piece is a classic, Tony Evans made a few vases with this shape, I think this is the second best of this Signed and numbered Vase the artist created in this range.

I’ve traded in Tony Evans ceramics for years and constantly search the Internet for his work, I believe this is one of his best.

It’s a very rare and unique piece and needs an experienced collector to fully appreciate it, It will be a highly valued piece for collectors of world class ceramics, a masterpiece In spectacular display condition.

If you buy this piece and it doesn’t instantly become one of your favorite objects, I’ll be stunned, complete money back guarantee if dissatisfied in any way, I can offer that in complete confidence.

Tony Evans

Renowned American ceramics society ceramic artist Tony Evans was a fellow of the American ceramics society; he was elevated to the grade of Fellow by reason of outstanding contributions to the ceramic arts and won American Ceramic Society medals for his work.

He was most famous for Raku pottery

The formation of a Raku glaze is a special and dangerous process created by Japanese ceramic masters hundreds of years ago; Raku pieces can fetch a lot of money. The traditional process involves removing the piece from the kiln while still glowing red-hot and allowed to cool in the open air. The now familiar technique of placing the ware in a container filled with combustible material is not a traditional Raku practice and these new techniques have been created by contemporary potters worldwide like the creator of this vase, Tony Evans.
