lease find for auction my beloved Nikon SuperCool Scan 5000 *with* the indispensable SF-210 slide feeder. I purchased this brand-new to scan some negatives for our local museum and my father's slide collection.
I could not have been more pleased. It scans up to 4000dpi. It comes with the single slide feeder, which will accept any slide I've ever come across (bent, steel, aluminum, double-thickness, stapled, etc.).
The scan time is quite fast, but if you want to use Digital ICE (which I usually did), it takes quite a bit longer because it removes virtually all the dust and scratches automatically. There are all kinds of ways to tweak the software to get it to automatically adjust colors, contrast and just about any setting you can think of.
An important note: Nikon did not make 64-bit drivers for the Mac (Lion) so if I was using a Mac, I made sure it was an older version OS than Lion. I also had success using Vuescan software a.Vuescan supports this scanner with Lion. I used both. While many people prefer the Vuescan software, I was partial to the Nikon one. Although all the software and drivers are still available online, I am including the two disks I received with the scanner. I have not tried it using Vista or Windows 7, but have read that many people are doing so. Here is a link many people are using to get started: |
