This lens was owned by a British newspaper and magazine photographer Frank Barrett. I have included three photos which he took with this particular lens, the Queen, Obama and the seal (he photographed Lady Diana with it too but I don't have those photos!). Since buying the lens I have only used it on a handful of occasions for astrophotography (see picture of the horse's head nebula).

The lens is well used; some of the exterior paint has chipped away, there is a slight crack on the lens shade and there is some tape around the focus distance dial. None of these dinks affect the operation of the lens in any way. Optically the lens is in very good shape. If you look very closely you can see some tiny flecks on the lens. These were on the lens when I bought it. I'm not sure if they can be cleaned off or not. I decided not to touch them in case I scratched the lens accidentally. The seal photo - taken just before I bought the lens - shows how well the lens is performing. It really is a fantastic bit of kit.

I have had the lens "MOT'd"  by professional camera engineers at Fixationuk in London, they replaced two screws and then gave it the all clear. Paperwork available on request.

Below is an extract from Ken Rockwell's review of the lens

"This Canon 300mm f/2.8 is an ultra high performance telephoto lens for every Canon DSLR and 35mm EOS camera. It has spectacular optics, fast autofocus and top-notch build quality....For less than one-third the price of the newest Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L IS II, this lens is pretty much the same thing."
