Private seller inherited these items. The brooch has been valued by registered jeweller (*) so seller can provide official description of brooch: - 9ct yellow gold guild finish broch 45 x 36 mm. Oval, four tier design. Centre 12.7 mm seel pearl, star set, lower blue enamel star finish on oval tier, scalloped lower tier, outer scalloped edge with bead and millegrain detail, perspex section to rear containing lock of hair, joint pin and catch to rear, total weight 12.2 gms.

Also for sale with brooch is a pair of gold Victorian ear-rings with screw fitting. These have not been officially valued but seller can confirm they are also yellow gold although unsure of exact carrat, presumably at least 9ct. Their design is similar to the brooch although not identical. No enamel is present but there are seed pearls in the centre of each measuring approx 1.5mm across.

The brooch is in it's original brown leather, box, blue silk and velvet lined bearing the royal crests for the Prince of Wales and the name 'Ferguson Brothers, Goldsmiths & Watchmakers of Inverness. According to my research this company was in operation in Inverness in the 1870s.

Might be willing to sell broch and earrings separately. Also might consider posting abroad but would need to negotiate postage to maximise security of package - contact seller.

(*the official valuation of the brooch is more than the £300 being asked for both it and the earrings together so seller cannot accept less than asking price).
