Rare Royal Doulton Porcelain Large Recumbent Brown Hare Pattern Number HN2593 c.1950's (ref: 2136)

This is a rare Royal Doulton large recumbent (laying) hare, c.1950's pattern number HN2593 (number 656 - impressed
on the base).
 
 
 
This hare was issued / introduced in 1941 and discontnued in 1968.
 
 
The hare is in brown, with white front feet, chest, below the nose and white to the inner tips of the ears.
 
 
 
 
The back legs of the hare are stretched out behind and are in a pale brown / fawn colour.
 
 
The front feet are together and in front of the chest area and are also in a pale brown / fawn colour.
 
 
The hare is in bone china and has a white base (there is a 40 scratched in the base ring area of the front feet).
 
The hare has a hand painted HN number on the base and is also backstamped on the base, both shown below.
 
 
Condition:
No chips, cracks, crazing or restoration.
 
There is some minor rubbing to the brown glaze / gloss on the back and left leg area of the hare, shown below.
 
 
There is also a line rub to the right back leg and a couple of very small spot rubs, shown below.

8.4cm (just over 3¼") tall (at tallest point - top of ears)
7 3/8" (18.7cm) max length
4.8cm (just under 2") max width
