You don't need a 4K TV to be able to use this box. The new 4K elements of the 2017 model is immense. 4K for Net-flicks/Amazon and many more. 

The best thing about these boxes are:

1. The latest movies including those at the flicks in HD. 

2. Loads of sports some in SD and some in HD. It all depends on the speed of your internet.

3. Loads of TV series at your fingertips mainly HD.

If you have a BT hub you need to disable the Smart Setup wizard in your hub manager settings for

 this to work. All my boxes come with ares wizard (the home of builds) so you can fresh start and

 try whatever build you like in the future. Really easy to do. It's probably best to update the builds

 that your using via ares wizard once a month for best results. 

Direct Fast Ethernet for great streaming especially when those other boxes struggle with Sports. 

I would say you need fibre broadband for this box to work to its full potential
