Vintage Tenor Banjo By Dopera Brothers with Metal Resonator Cased £ 395.00

Please look at the pictures and study them very carefully as they form a large part
of the item description. I will state at the outset that this banjo comes from a clearance
job and I know very little of it's previous life history. Also I am NOT a specialist seller
of musical instruments neither am I a banjo player.

*****************************************************************************************************
I am informed by a fellow eBay member that the banjo was manufactured by a company
called "Dopera Brothers" in the USA. They reckoned that the banjo dated to the period
in the inter-war years - the 1920's or 1930's. He said that he metal resonators were developed
by Dopera Brothers to increase the volume of the instrument so it could be played with other
instruments such as a piano and be clearly heard.
The engraving on the aluminium was apparently often carried out by craftsmen who worked
mainly for the Selmer Company who manufactured mainly traditional engraved brass
instruments.

PLEASE look at the pictures and make up your own mind............

The banjo was owned and used by a semi-professional musician. The banjo is a 4-string
tenor model and comes with a set of strings and some spares as shown. There are also two
bridges (?) and one has an electrical connection (? pickup). The resonator that fits on the
open back of the banjo is made of some sort of aluminium alloy and has what I would describe
as hand worked "wriggle decoration" it is very attractive and very well executed.
On the down side the resonator's outer edge has been rather knocked about and is dented -
however I am sure that a skilled metal worker or musical repair technician could greatly
improve the cosmetic appearance of the resonator. As far as I am aware this will NOT
affect the playability of the banjo. Rather stupidly I removed the strings to clean the
woodwork and then forgot how to fit them again.........

I have looked all over the banjo but I cannot find a serial number anywhere on the body,
neck, resonator or head. One thing I would point out is that the banjo's main "body" is
made of some form of cast metal

Comes with the beautiful hard storage case as shown with carry handle and internal
storage area.
