Hand carved British Columbia black nephrite jade Maori Kawakawa pounamu necklace. It measures 2.50 inches in length and is has a smooth and shiny finish.
Pounamu plays a very important role in Māori culture. It is considered a taonga (treasure). Pounamu taonga increase in mana (prestige) as they pass from one generation to another. The most prized taonga are those with known histories going back many generations. These are believed to have their own mana and were often given as gifts to seal important agreements.

Features an adjustable slipknot closure that makes it approximately 14" at the smallest point, opening up to 28".. You simply push the knots to the end of the necklace, slip it over your head, then pull the knots down for the perfect fit.
