Style: Eggbutt

Mouthpiece: Thick Hollow Snaffle

Size: 5" (average horse)

Ring Height:   70 mm (approx 2 3/4" measured top to bottom inside of ring)

Brand:  Herm Sprenger

Condition: Used.  Great.

The eggbutt bit has oval shaped rings that create a more direct line between the rider's hands and the bit with the "egg" shape restricting the movement of the reins in comparison to a bit with round rings.   The mouthpiece is the thicker style (approx. 21 mm).    The thick mouth covers a larger surface area and does not create sharp pressure points,  making it a gentler bit.    The mouthpiece is hollow, making it lighter weight.   It weighs just over 10 oz.  "Herm Sprenger Germany Stainless Steel" and "DBGM Pat pendg" are marked on the mouthpiece.
This bit is used but in great condition.   It has some marks from normal use, but nothing that should effect its performance in any way.  On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being new, mint condition, I would give this bit an 8+++.   I believe this is an older Herm Sprenger bit and it is fairly difficult to find.   A nice quality bit!
