DESCRIPTION
Incredible vintage dress! I'm having a little bit of trouble dating this piece (your input is welcome!), my best guess is that it is circa 1910s. Dress features a brown velvet fabric with very ornate embroidery on the sleeve cuffs and skirt. Some of the embroidery appears to be woven hair, possibly horse hair? Open bodice with built-in cream lace (lace has an additional sheer backing for full coverage). Six lace buttons down the chest. Fitted waistline with an accented belt. I love the way the embroidery hangs past the bottom hem of the skirt! Dress fastens with a line of hidden snap closures down the front.
Good vintage condition. Perfectly wearable with a few flaws. A few rice size to pea size holes on the skirt. It looks like there was once a built-in orange slip under the skirt, the slip has mostly shredded and fallen out but there are a still few areas intact.
