Here I have a rare performance chip set for the BMW E36 M3 3.0 (DME+VNC) made by BMW Motorsport for their FIA Gr.N race cars.  It is the chip that gets the most out of the race preped engine used in the Gr.N class which is basically a stock engine with E36 M3 GT camshafts and a thinner head gasket.  BMW rated it at 306-308 Hp.  These are no longer sold by BMW.  At the time they were still available you would need to send your 2 ECUs (DME+VNC) to BMW to have the chips reprogrammed.  The advantage of this chip is that you get the absolute most that BMW was able to get out of a stock engine but as this is such a bespoke software it will be very difficult to make further modifications to it.  

In this auction you get chips for both the engine computer (DME) and the VANOS controller ECU (VNC).  Both are modified ERPOMs with bespoke tuning.  This is a version without EWS so will fit both cars with and without the EWS factory immobilizer without any need for further programming.

Compatibility: 1992-1995 Euro M3 with the S50B30 engine

Specifications:

  • 308 Hp (stock is 286 Hp) so a gain of 22 Hp!
  • For use with stock intake and MAF sensor
  • For full power gain a thinner Gr.A head gasket and GT cams should be used (264 duration cams, stock are 260 so there is very little to gain from just the cams)
  • rev limit set to 7408rpm (stock is 7240rpm)
  • no speed limiter
  • No EWS function so will disable it in cars with EWS
  • BMW part numbers DME: 1214 1 415389, VNC: 1214 1 415390

When installing a these chips in a car with EWS please also cut the EWS-ECU communication wire at pin 66 of the ECU connector.  It this is not done you may have intermittent no start issues.
