Offered is a collectible fine art oil painting: INVERSION LAYERS (#16-7966).  The image was created by professional artist, William Helvey.  It is a beautiful  painting that is unframed and created on an archival, heavy gesso-coated stretched canvas.   This is an original oil that is in excellent condition and no copies have ever been made.   Image  size is approximately 16 x 20 inches.  The color of the original art may be slightly different that the one you see on the screen. They  are more vivid with darker, contoured lines.   The painting is presently in the artist’s personal collection.

This is an oil showing a large number of abstract surreal shapes and colors that are overlapping one another in various angles. From warm colors to cool blue colors, the shapes can sometimes seen other forms if one squints their eyes.   In the upper right hand corner the swirls of color converge making an arch in the lower third of the painting.  Other atmospheric shapes are in the foreground and are made of violets and blue hues.  The bright colors are in direct contrast the colors on the lower left side of the painting. The style of painting is pointillism with loose vibrant colors making up the semi-abstract background composition.  The angle of foreshortening of the composition makes this image very interesting and different than most paintings, especially the method of drawing with brush,  and wet and wet oil painting.  The overall color theme is with vibrating warm/cool colors.  The "museum quality" image emphasizes soft lights and shadows.

The painting technique that Helvey uses is quite unique.  Multiple vibrant colors make up the oil palette.  Each oil goes through three to four phases of work.  First is the actual drawing done with graphite, ink or charcoal.  Then the subject is bathed with a local color.  The background is thoroughly painted so that a number of colors can be applied with wet and wet areas of the image.  After drying, details of the composition are completed and a final color is applied to the background.  After personally signing the final version, the painting takes as much as two to three weeks to dry.  It is then ready for viewing and/or exhibition.

This “one-of-a-kind”  image is signed on the front and back of the painting by William Helvey.  It is dated on the back side.  Copyright of the image remains with the artist. The unique image was created in 2016.  The artwork is suitable for framing and the canvas will be shipped unframed and rolled in a tube to the successful purchaser. This is a quality painting that would be perfect for displays, exhibits or for your own personal art collection.

Art Collection Tips

Here a few tips to remember when collecting art, whether you are a beginner or an experienced art or photography collector!

Buy art because you like it and because it moves you, and because you will enjoy your purchase over time.

If you have not yet started your collection, start now.

Visit art galleries and on-line galleries as often as you can. You will begin to see the type of art that you are interested in and the price range you can afford.

Get on gallery mailing lists, e-newsletters, announcements, and exhibition schedules so you will know what is going on in the art world.

Visit and join your local art museums and non-profit art centers. Curators sometimes give lectures on collecting art and fine art photography.

Attend art and photography exhibitions on-line and in galleries and museums whenever possible.

If you know art collectors, talk to them and find out what they know and what they've learned about collecting art.

Read books on art history and fine art photography. The more you know about your subject the more you will appreciate artists and their work.

Buy art for the long haul. It can be a great investment. Art may or may not increase in value. Buy it because you specifically enjoy it.

Read reviews by local and national art critics, keeping in mind that reviews usually just reflect one person?s opinion.
