The Minolta AL-F is a rangefinder camera that was launched by Minolta in 1967. The AL-F has an automatic mode for flash photography (“Easy Flash”). A hot shoe for the flash gave further ease of flash usage. The frame viewfinder is coupled to a superimposed rangefinder with mechanical parallax correction. A Rokkor 1:2.7/38mm lens has 4 elements in 3 groups, and a Seiko shutter.
Minolta was founded in Osaka, Japan in 1928 as Nichi-Doku Shashinki Shoten, which means “Japanese-German Camera Shop.” They are perhaps best known for making the first integrated autofocus 35mm SLR camera system. In 1931, they changed their name to Minolta, an acronym for “Mechanism, Instruments, Optics and Lenses by Tashima.”
