Kenwood Bluetooth Interface

The Kenwood BT Interface (built around the HC-06 module) allows for a serial BT connection between a Kenwood D710 dual band transceiver and a host device, typically an Android or PC. This connection will then allow the transfer NMEA GPS Data between the radio and host device to utilize apps such as APRSdroid.
Works great with the older D710A as well as the newer D710G with internal GPS. Attaches in line with the control head cable, no additional power cable required as it draws power from the control head.

There are other Android apps available which will allow the Android devices to GPS data to be used for beaconing purposes only.

What is APRSdroid?

APRSdroid is an Android application for Amateur Radio operators. It allows reporting your position to the APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System) network, displaying of nearby amateur radio stations and the exchange of APRS messages. Running APRSdroid on an Android device will allow the D710 to acquire real-time positioning by using the GPS receiver built into the Android device (cellphone or tablet). The APRSdroid app will show the location of other APRS beaconed stations on a map. Download from aprsdroid.org.
Not MFI-Compatible, i.e. does not work with Apple products since they do not support SPP profiles.
