Corgi Toys - D2200 X-Ploratrons shop display card sign - plus all four boxed models

Dating from 1979, this is a very colourful, all original shop display card for the launch of the X-Ploratrons range of four models. The artwork on the display card and also the boxes for the models was specifically designed for Corgi by the renowned comic book illustrator Frank Langford.

From around the mid-1970s onwards, Corgi even allocated catalogue numbers to shop display and promotional ephemera and this card sign is catalogue number D2200 (as denoted in the bottom right right hand corner). Also included is all four boxed models: D2023 X1 Rocketron, D2024 X2 Lasertron, D2026 X3 Magnetron and D2022 X4 Scanotron.

The card is designed to display all four models released in the range by using the four white card tabs (bottom left and right) to slot through the back of the boxed models. The text printed on the card states where each model is correctly placed so that it lines up with the colourful features illustration in the lower centre of the sign. Then, via the two pre-scored vertical ridges, the whole stand can be angled to display either three sides - i.e. looking from above it would look like:   \ _ /   or it can simply be displayed straight like:   _ _ _  (see first two pictures).

The display card measures approximately 15 inch (38 cm) by 19 inch (48.5 cm). It is made of thick card with a glossy laminated front surface.

This super scarce and highly decorative and colourful item is in superb original, virtually mint condition (very, very tiny bump to top right corner). The display sign will also be supplied with all four boxed X-Ploratron models pictured. All four models are mint. Their original boxes are excellent to near mint with no major rips, tears or crushing and all with complete cellophane windows; some boxes have slight age, shelf or storage wear to the edges and a little age contraction wrinkling to the cellophane windows, plus all four have a little tape residue mark at the top of the header card on the back. Please see pictures.

Note: if you already have the models (or do not want them) and are only interested in purchasing the display sign itself then please contact me so that I can amend the listing to accommodate this for you. Please note, though, that it is the display card itself that is the high value item here due to its scarcity relative to the models.

These signs are extremely rare to come to the market. I am only selling this one because I have discovered that it is a duplicate in my personal collection.

This item will be very well packed for posting with tissue paper, bubble wrap, foam packing chips and a sturdy posting box. Please note the paragraph above if you are only interested in the sign and not the models. If the sign is purchased on its own then it will be wrapped in tissue paper, sandwiched in very thick cardboard and then sent as a flat box - and of course the postage will significantly cheaper. I do not use jiffy bags for valuable vintage items!

If you have any other questions or if there is any problem with the transaction once you have purchased then please 'contact seller'. I can resolve any issue as long as you contact me first.
