This is authentic, handmade, cotton, khadi fabric from rural India.
Khadi is defined as a "cloth woven by hand using handspun yarn only. Natural fibers namely cotton, wool and silk are used in spinning and the production activity is carried out in rural areas," according to India’s Khadi & Village Industries Commission.
All of the dyes used in khadi are made from natural ingredients.

Khadi has a rich history and cultural significance in India. It became especially important as a patriotic symbol during India’s independence movement. The country’s leaders, particularly Mahatma Gandhi, encouraged all Indians to make and wear khadi as part of the colony’s intention to boycott foreign goods and to promote national and personal self-sufficiency.
Today the production of this eco friendly fabric supports artisans—both women and men—in villages throughout India.
