VINTAGE 1960's GUILD THUNDERBASS

Recapped, restored and ready to rock.

WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!

As you can see in the pics, this super-rare, vintage Guild thunderbass head is in excellent conditon.  It has just been to the Doctor, and has been fully recapped and reconditioned.  Additionally, the amp has been converted to 6L6's for earlier breakup and sweeter tone and has been equipped with a NOS set of sovteks, freshly biased.
The amp is equally well suited to guitar or bass.  The bass tone, at modern volumes (10) is a pretty nasty, ballsy, crunched out affair; angrily distorted without losing low-end.  For guitar, the amp (equipped with stock master volume) starts out in clean Fender Bassman territory, but pretty rapidly runs off in its own unique direction in a wonderfully kind of vox-y-sunn-garage kind of way.  The distortion eventually becomes quite creamy and compressed when brought up to full throttle, with a gorgeous, JMP like,  high rolled-off wash for big chords.
The Master is (rather than the more modern type) very transperant and really somewhat (dare I say?) subtle.  This is not the guitar center consumer variety of master volume control, but rather, another tool for sculpting your tone.  There is a lot of cool harmonic interaction between the main and master volumes to experement with, as well as the jumpering of channels (2 inputs per; bassman style.)  Output is appx. 50 watts at 8 Ohms.  Cosmetically, this amp has all of the well deserved exterior play wear one would expect of a well loved, well played and well cared for instrument of this age and pedigree, including the (pictured) slightly chewed up tolex on the removable rear plate, included at no extra charge.  Enjoy!
