1970 PLYMOUTH HEMI SUPERBIRD Stored inside since 1983 in a garage in Dallas Texas, never offered for sale since 1983, 1of 135 Hemi Superbirds produced, 1 of 36 known Automatics in existence. According to the Superbird Club. 2 known owners from 1970-1983, registration/title documents back to 1974. Believed to have been sold new by Lafayette Motor Company in Lafayette Louisiana at that time established in 1911. Keychain comes with the car. Sold to owner 1 Joseph S Adams Jr., the Car was originally Lemon Twist when sold new the folklore story passed down over the years is that Mr. Adams had to paint the car Plum Crazy Purple and then years later to green to try and avoid the Police, it was supposedly a well known car in the area and he was issued many tickets by the local police departments. The interior is original and is black, rare column shift bucket seat car. In 1983 the car was sold to a Dallas Texas resident named Shannon Lilly who owned several winged cars in the late Seventies and early eighties. It was then sold soon after to a local Dallas collector who was very private when it came to this car, it was literally driven into his garage in late 1983, door shut and never to see the light of day until its discovery by us in July of 2011. This is a real, true numbers matching Hemi Superbird, we were the first to check the numbers on the engine pad and transmission, we were also the first to remove the back seat and reveal the original broadcast sheet. Original fender tag, dash VIN and door sticker are still on the car. The undercarriage and chassis are remarkable, original chalk marks and grease pencil marks are still visible, the car is showing 20,824 miles and is believed to be actual, this car is in amazing condition with no signs of body work, magnet sticks everywhere. We removed the gas tank and carpet looking for more paperwork, a Bendix 100% certification test sheet was found with multiple stamps, We took pictures of the trunk floor with the gas tank removed it is excellent from the bottom but has surface rust on the top (inside trunk area), we also photographed the front main floors with the carpet removed they are basically rust free. The factory original carpet is excellent, beautiful dash pad, tears in front seats. The entire exhaust system appears to be original, correct and still in good condition. We have tried to keep this car as original as possible, we replaced the gas tank, fuel pump, battery, and fluids. The car literally started the first time we tried, it idles good, runs drives, shifts and stops. We also had to replace the master cylinder and wheel cylinders to make it stop. Yes we saved all of the original parts and they go with the car. The original fender tag reads Line 1 05107 175330 Line 2 113 052671 Line 3 26 Line 4 V19 V88 Line 5 FY1 P6XA TX9 B30 J98008 Line 6 E74 D32 RM23 R0a172586 Engine Number stamped into pad on passenger side of block is 0A172586 Build Date on door sticker is12/69 Number stamped into block by starter mount is A+ F MV426304561470 Transmission number stamped into pad on passenger side of trans. There is a piece of cardboard that was found in the glove box that we believe was taped inside the windshield during production it measures 5x5 with a large number 5 on one side and ASCA on the other. Overall this car is exceptionally straight, solid, correct and complete. The floors and frame rails are excellent. There is some rust repair needed around the rear window, trunk drip rail is the worst area on this car and minor rust on exterior rear lower quarter panels. Surface rust in the trunk (please view bottom of trunk floor pictured with gas tank removed) This is a true Survivor car with exception of exterior paint. The car runs and drives now. This is a true numbers matching low mileage, very correct, Superbird with build sheet, it took 41 years to get it in this patinaed condition and in our opinion should be left alone and enjoyed AS IS, it can be restored at any time to better than new condition. If you bothered to read all of this you know that this is a blue-chip iconic muscle car that rarely, if ever comes to market.
