These are the brand new M140 diodes from the Japan Manufactured M series projectors which are currently the only source for new M140 diodes.
There a lot of M140 diodes being pulled and offered for sale from used and end of life projectors being dumped on the market right now from educational and corporate institutions that are putting out to pasture older machines. Some properly being sold as used diodes but some are listing them as new. It is not a bad thing that used diode are flooding the market and can be a good low cost option for some accepting that a portion to most of the diodes life has been used already but they should be aware of that and not under the impression it is a new diode. If the listing does not state the projector the diodes were pulled from is Japan (not the diode all are made in Japan but used to be shipped to China for assembly in the projectors which is now done all in Japan) and/or does not come with the long red spacer it is a near certainty it was pulled from a used or EOL unit.
The M-Type M140's average about 2.2W @ 1.8A using a G-1/2 lens. The low is about 1.9W and some coming in as high as 2.5W.
Don't attempt to connect the diode directly to a fixed voltage source like a battery. The diode requires a proper laser driver to operate. I offer a fixed X-Drive laser driver set to 1.8A for this diode. You can find it here.
I also have options for this diode in modules with the driver installed see these
